TIGERS
BCH Fun Fact: A tiger’s stripes are as unique as our fingerprints, no two tigers have the same pattern!
LIONS
BCH Fun Fact: Lions communicate in many different ways using sounds like roars, grunts, moans, growls, snarls, purrs, hums, puffs and woofs, as well as body language! A lion’s roar can be heard from as far as FIVE miles (eight kilometers) away!
LIGERS & TIGONS
BCH Fun Fact: A liger is a hybrid, it is the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger. The opposite, a male tiger and a female lion is called a tigon.
BEARS
BCH Fun Fact: Brown bears have an average lifespan of 25 years in the wild, while in human care they have been recorded living up to 50 years!
PRIMATES
BCH Fun Fact: A ring-tailed lemur’s tail has alternating black and white bands that are longer than their bodies and can be up to 2 feet long!
BIRDS
BCH Fun Fact: Sun Conures, also known as Sun Parakeets, are monomorphic species, meaning that the males and females have similar physical characteristics.
PETTING ZOO
BCH Fun Fact: Goats have rectangular pupils, this unusual shape gives them a fuller range of vision, about 320-340 degrees in their periphery view.
